Liability
What does this cover? Your financial liability for bodily injuries and property damage suffered by third parties in the even you are responsible for an accident (at-fault). This option includes the minimum liaibility limits required by California law of $15,000 per person and $30,000 per accident for bodily injury to third parties. Also covered are up to $10,0000 in property damage to third-party property.
With this coverage (without adding collision and comprehensive coverages), damage to your car from an at-fault accident or other risks will not be covered.
Comprehensive and Collision
In addition to the financial liability coverage, this options includes collision and comprehensive coverage. Collision coverage covers damage to your car in an at-fault accident. Comprehensive coverage covers damage to your vehicle from non-collision causes, such as theft or falling tree branches.
Both coverages have a deductible (the amount you pay out-of-pocked before an insurance payment is made) of $1000.
